Trip Reports - January 2018 - Part 1

Starting the new year, I want to just switch up the post schedule to a monthly basis since it feels more and more of a task to update this blog every trip.

January 6 - Trip 13: Trunk 7

The last day of the Polytechnics Open House, I went to both Singapore and Temasek Poly to look around and prepare for education after taking my O-Level results next week. Travelling between the two, I took a full trip on Trunk 7 between Clementi and Bedok, passing through Holland Village, Orchard Road and Geylang Serai.

I passed through the cavernous Tampines West MRT Station on the way home.

January 10 - Trip 14: Trunks 8, 73 ; Feeders 222, 238, 262

Staying mainly in the centre heartlands for this trip, I ventured around Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio, ticking off Ang Mo Kio Feeder 262, serving Ang Mo Kio Ave 2 and Mayflower EstateToa Payoh Feeder 238, looping at Lorong 8 Toa Payoh and Trunk Service 73 which serves Serangoon NorthSerangoon Gardens and Lorong Chuan

Passing through Geylang Bahru on my way to Toa Payoh.

HDB Hub, integrated with the Toa Payoh Bus Interchange.

I went north to Ang Mo Kio and took Trunk 73 back to Toa Payoh.

I later went eastwards, taking Trunk Service 8 to Tampines via MacPherson Road and Ubi. Staying on the east side of Singapore, I took a loop of Townlink Feeder 222, which links Fengshan and Chai Chee in Bedok before heading home. (both these trips were on Volvo B10TLs) Additionally, the monsoon was in full force that day, as it rained virtually during my entire trip.

Passing through Ubi MRT Station along Ubi Avenue 2 on Trunk 8.

In and around Bedok on Feeder 222.

January 14 - Trip 15: Trunks 78 (half), 184 (half), 198, 973 (half); Feeder 242

I set off heading westward that Sunday towards Boon Lay on Trunk Service 198 from Bukit Merah, passing QueenswayBuona Vista and the heart of Jurong New Town, plying Jurong East and West Avenues 1 before arriving at Boon Lay Interchange

Between sectors along Queensway and Buona Vista, the route also serves Commonwealth MRT Station. And after Buona Vista, the route plies the Ayer Rajah Expressway before turning into Jurong Town Hall Road.

At Boon Lay, I also ticked off the short Feeder Service 242 which serves residents at Jurong West Avenue 5 and Street 72 to finish off the Boon Lay Feeders, which I have completed all of since I already took loops of Feeders 240, 241 and 243.

Having completed the Boon Lay Feeders, I took the MRT back to Jurong East and took Trunk Service 78 to its looping point at Clementi MRT StationTrunk 78 serves Teban Gardens as well as Industrial Estates at Tanjong Penjuru and Pandan Road, before coming up through West Coast Road to Clementi.

Turning into Clementi Avenue 2 and approaching Clementi Town Centre.

I had a short break at Clementi Mall before setting off once again. I took Trunk Service 184(which also loops at Clementi Station) to Bukit Panjang on a bendy bus, passing through Clementi Road and Bukit Timah

Trunk 184 interestingly terminates at a bus stop along Woodlands Road outside Junction 10 rather than the bus interchange, the only other bus service that does this is Trunk 75.

Junction 10 Shopping Centre, formerly known as Ten Mile Junction also has an LRT Station that is part of the Bukit Panjang LRT System. Just for fun, I took BPLRT Service C around the estate and exited at Bukit Panjang.

Finally, the last trip of the day was half of Trunk Service 973 from Bukit Panjang, looping at Hume Avenue and Hillview MRT Station via Petir Road and Dairy Farm Road.

New Condominiums in Dairy Farm.

Progress - 87/363 (23.97 %)
